چکیده

In a Single Frequency Network (SFN), the signals coming from nearby transmitters are mixed. Since the interfering signals can be seen as (very) long term echoes, an effective method to combat echoes, such as OFDM, is a natural candidate for SFN. However, although OFDM is a very efficient method, the very long delays that characterise SFN echoes require extremely long packets in OFDM transmissions and high stability of the subcarriers frequencies. An alternative approach based on array processing is proposed. The signals received by the sensors are filtered and downconverted. Then, source separation is performed using transmitters localisation and multiplication by the pseudo-inverse of the estimated mixture matrix. Symbol Timing and Carrier Recovery is then performed on each separated component. Furthermore, in order to increase the SNR, these components can be globally synchronised (using a correlator) and summed. Experimental results are finally presented and show good performances of the approach in a realistic configuration.

Power Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks

This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...

Analytical Characterization of the Single Frequency Network Gain Using Effective SNR Metrics

The design of broadcasting networks operating in a single frequency way is challenging due to the difficulty of predicting the performance in a frequency selective channel, caused by natural multipath and echoes coming from different transmitters. In this paper we resort to the use of frame error rate prediction metrics (also known as effective SNR metrics) to characterize the performance gain ...

Dynamic single frequency networks

Wireless asymmetric Internet access with a downlink peak bit rate of 10 to 30 Mb/s can be achieved by using the terrestrial digital video broadcasting system (DVB-T) as a supplemental downlink together with today’s cellular systems. This paper is a study of dynamic radio resource management on a packet-by-packet basis for this broadband downlink. The dynamic single frequency networks (DSFN) sch...
